Drawing Fashion is the name of the exhibit that houses these days, and until 6 March, the Design Museum in London and holds a unique collection of some of the most prominent fashion plates of the twentieth century and part of the twenty-first century. These are the original works of fashion art, the hand of large fashion houses, from the most consecrated as Channel, Dior, Come des Garcons and Porte, even the most avant-garde as Viktor & Rolf, McQueen and Labroid.
In the sample we illustrators: Georges Leaped, great illustrator of the early century linked to the Ballets Ruses, Rene Guru in the 40′s and 50′s, who represents the golden period of fashion illustration before the introduction of photography . A genius of the brush, pen and ink of Italian origin whose style reminiscent of Toulouse-Lautrec prints.
The tour concludes in today’s illustrators, including Mats Gustafson are, with style and lyrical, the French Aurora de la Morin Erie and François Berthoud, with a modern twist and wiser captive. The exhibition also includes videos, music and photography to reflect not only the spirit and style of each decade, but also, and broadly social and cultural changes most important of the century.
